My 18 year old nephew Kai Wescoat is a super sweet young man. His passion is surfing and anything ocean related. Unfortunately, Kai experienced a surfing accident yesterday in North Carolina. His surfboard unexpectedly made impact to his face. He was airlifted from Buxton to Norfolk General, a few hours away. The trauma team determined that he had a laceration to his eye and a fractured eye socket. Kai endured a four hour surgery to save his eye. The next few days will determine the results along with more surgery.

My brother Brian and his wife Dawn will be staying in a hotel close to the hospital to have immediate access to his medical care.
