Prayers and Support for Baby Levi Leffelman
Donation protected
I’m starting this campaign as a friend and fellow parent to a CHD warrior to support Levi Leffelman son of Noah and Elizabeth Leffelman to help lift the burden of the expenses of being so far from home. Here is their story:
Levi Leffelman was born less than a week ago with a congenital heart disease (CHD) that had not been diagnosed during pregnancy. With one night at home, Levi’s breathing appeared labored, and an issue was confirmed with a CHD screening confirming poor oxygenation to his extremities. This resulted in a hospital trip to the Mountain Home ER, an ambulance transfer to St. Luke’s in Boise, and finally an airlift medevac to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at the University of Stanford.
For the past few days we have been in the whirlwind of countless doctors, medical personnel, conversations, options, learning more about medications and the heart since then than we ever thought possible, and facing the realities of Levi’s condition. As of now, his primary diagnoses appears to be severe aortic stenosis, in that he was born with an extremely narrow aortic valve limiting appropriate blood flow to the body and compromising the left ventricle. A myriad of other issues have arisen stemming from this that the team is working to control and stabilize.
Levi has so far undergone 2 cathetor ballooning operations in attempt to widen his valve/ passageway. There is hope that should these ballooning operations be successful, he will be better prepared for open heart surgery or surgeries at a time still to be determined. We’ve been told that the mortality rate of his surgery decreases the older Levi is and the stronger his heart/ left ventricle is - so the hope is to allow him at least a few weeks to increase in that strength if he can be kept relatively stable.
Our current routine is waiting at his side each day to see if Levi’s condition is stable, and hoping that he’s stable enough to make it another day before the surgery is needed.
We are extremely thankful to the people who have heard of what happened and reached out to offer us their love, support, and most importantly their prayers. We humbly ask that you please pray, and pray often, for the strength, health, and life of our son Levi.
We are incredibly thankful to have a son who is so strong and persistent. We are so proud of him and love our little boy very much. We thank God that his condition was found when it was, that he is at a world-class medical facility, and that Levi is still with us.
Please pray for us, and most especially for Levi. Thank you.
