Prayers and Donations Needed for Jess and Wes!!!

Dear Friends and Family,

My sister-in-law, Jessica Richards, was in a horrific accident at the beginning of this week. She was being a good samaritan to the driver of a car that had run off the road and hit a telephone pole. She saw the whole thing take place and stopped to see if the driver was okay. Unfortunately, wires from the pole had fallen into the road, and another car came flying around the curve and got the wires caught up in their tires. This, in turn, caused the pole to fall and be dragged over Jess.

Jess was taken by ambulance to UW Madison, where she underwent a five-hour surgery on March 28. During the surgery, doctors found her left ankle to be broken and her right leg/foot crushed, including a broken ankle, heel, tibia, missing skin and muscle the size of the palm of a hand, and 60% of her Achilles tendon missing.

Jess underwent another surgery on March 30, which was mainly composed of cleaning out more bone fragments. According to her doctors, she is also in contact isolation since she is at extremely high risk of infection. In addition, Jess will have another surgery sometime this week to undergo plastic surgery.

At this point, Jess will be in the hospital for at least another week. The hope is that insurance will help Jess be transferred to rehab from the hospital for the long road of recovery ahead of her.

First, please PRAY for the healing hands of God to encompass Jess' body and surround her with His amazing grace and love. Second, please pray for Wesley as he has not been able to see Jess at all since she is under continuous contact isolation, and no visitors will be allowed until she is released from the hospital.

Finally, we ask that you please consider donating to help with the many expenses involved with the medical costs. Jess is undergoing multiple surgeries, a lengthy hospital stay, and rehab is greatly needed but might not be covered by insurance.
In addition, Wes and Jess will also feel a personal financial burden as Jess will not be able to work for many months, and Wesley is currently in school and will also have to help take care of Jess when she goes back home.

Whether through prayer, donation, or both, your kindness and love will be GREATLY appreciated! We thank you all so much!
