UPDATE: Gunner doesn’t need surgery as of today. They ran tests and an MRI showed he did not need surgery for a bulged disc on his spinal cord. They are now concerned it’s something fungal affecting his nervous system or cancer. Please keep him in your prayers as we wait for answers as they continue to rule out what it could be.
Hi! Jaclyn here, never in a million years did I think a dog would have me wrapped around his finger… But here we are. Our baby Gunner needs some help. He was recently diagnosed with a torn CCL. Prior to surgery- the specialist ran some tests in office during his consultation just before “surgery.” Come to find out he did not have a torn CCL. His leg was no longer a worry. Although, he is unable to use his 2 hind legs.
Doctors found something neurological going on. His spinal cord is a main concern. He’s dragging both back legs, his paws are knuckling, and he stopped urinating regularly. All bad signs. Concerns were raised with him not relieving his bladder on his own.
Local phone calls to different ER’s all highly suggest going to an Emergency vet with a neurologist, all happen to be 2 hours away. Not urinating can be fatal. We called ER San Fernando Valley, which his doctor the day prior recommended, they said come immediately.
Good news, they think it’s a bulging disc causing everything going on neurologically. Downfall, the cost is astronomical. There are a few options: the cheaper route is to run tests and see if surgery is needed. He can be medicated while we decide short term for the next few weeks. The second option: run all the tests, bloodwork, MRI, and proceed with surgery if everything comes back clear for surgery.
Total quote estimated roughly over $14,000. Please consider donating to our Gunny boy as he spends the next few days at the ER down South getting answers, relieving pain and hopefully following through with a successful surgery.
Thank you so much for considering donating. Anything helps… and if monetary donations aren’t something you can do, please lift Gunner up in prayer. ❤️
