Prayers and Aid for August, His Heart and His Family

The Overholt family would love prayer for their 28-year-old son August, his wife Sarah Lily, and their 4-month-old baby.

August had a heart transplant on July 31st, 2004, just about 20 years ago and has been wonderfully healthy. On Tuesday, July 23rd, he went to his annual heart catheter and during the procedure, his heart failed.

After many tests and procedures, the doctors have determined that his heart is no longer viable. This was so unexpected. He had a surgery Wednesday night, July 24th, and his heart is now being supported by a machine and will remain hooked up until he can get another new heart.

A team of doctors will be meeting soon and so we are praying that he will be well enough to receive a new heart once one becomes available. There are of course many prayer requests and needs. Prayer for his pain level right now, he is not at all comfortable, for mom and baby, as it is quite taxing as we drive a baby in a car twice a day an hour to an hour and a half each way. They have both been such troopers and can absolutely feel everyone’s prayers. So please pray as you feel led for our family and for August’s healing and provision.

As some of you have asked, there are many needs for their family, but for now, prayers and any assistance with food, transportation, parking, and accommodations would be greatly appreciated for August's wife Sarah and their 4-month old baby.
