Hi everyone,
My name is Whitney, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my stepdad, Josh Huggins, and my mom, Laurie Huggins.
Josh has been married to my mom for many years and has helped raise me, my sister, and my brother. He has always been a steady, loving presence in our lives—someone who shows up, works hard, and cares deeply for his family. Watching him fight for his life has been heartbreaking.
Josh is currently in the ICU battling severe heart failure and pneumonia. He has been intubated and on a ventilator for over a week. During this time, his heart has had to be shocked multiple times, and he has remained in a coma-like state. The medical team is now focusing on strengthening his heart so they can begin the process of weaning him off the ventilator. He has also started three days of dialysis to help remove excess fluid from his heart and lungs.
Recently, Josh has shown small but meaningful signs of awareness as doctors have reduced his pain medication. While this gives us hope, we know he still has a long and difficult road ahead.
Throughout this crisis, my mom Laurie has been by his side while also carrying the weight of being the sole provider for our family over the last few months. My mom insists that Kaleigh, Joshua, and I stay steadfast in our college endeavors and maintaining high grades. The medical bills are already overwhelming and continue to grow each day Josh remains in intensive care. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to my mom to help cover Josh’s hospital and medical expenses, allowing her to focus on what matters most—being present for her husband and our family.
We believe in the power of prayer and the strength of community. We ask that you please keep Josh, Laurie, and our family in your prayers—for healing, strength, peace, and guidance for the doctors and nurses caring for him. Any donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this page or lifting us up in prayer means just as much.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and faith during this incredibly difficult time.
