Carlos Shepard, Pookie, has been in and out of ICU for over a month and has undergone several risky surgeries. What was first believed to be just inflammation and ulcers has now been diagnosed as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

This is a rare condition in which one or more tumors grow in the pancreas or in the upper part of the small intestine. These tumors produce large amounts of Gastrin which causes the stomach to produce too much acid which his body can’t filter out fast enough.

Many people have asked how to help. His TDCJ family is helping with donating sick leave days for all of the time he’s missing at work. This account will help his family navigate these next weeks and months, financially.

His family knows how many people are Praying for Pookie everyday and they ask that this not stop until he is healed and at home where he belongs.
