Pay. Play. Pray. Help Alyssa.

Some people spend their lives overcoming obstacles. Alyssa Canfield is one of those people.

Those who know Alyssa know her as compassionate, determined, and resilient. Her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist comes from a genuine desire to help others find their voice. Epilepsy has delayed that dream more than once, but it has never taken away her determination. Even through hospital stays, medication changes, and setbacks, she has continued moving toward the life she believes she has been called to live.

Alyssa was diagnosed with generalized epilepsy just before beginning her freshman year of college. She had planned to attend Northern Arizona University on a full ride scholarship, but after experiencing breakthrough seizures, she made the difficult decision to remain in Fort Worth so she could continue treatment close to home.

Despite the challenges of living with epilepsy, Alyssa refused to let the disease define her. Through numerous doctor’s appointments, drug trials, hospitalizations, and countless seizures, she persevered and earned her bachelor’s degree.

Not content to stop there, Alyssa sensed a calling to help others through speech-language pathology. She paid for her post-baccalaureate out of pocket before she enrolled in graduate school and has worked tirelessly toward earning her master’s degree. Today, she is less than one year away from reaching that goal.

Unfortunately, epilepsy has interrupted her journey once again. She suffered from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in June 2026, one month after beginning her new married life.

After years of treatment, despite multiple medications/treatment attempts her epilepsy has become increasingly difficult to control. Following the events of June, extensive testing and consultations with her medical team, Alyssa has been approved for Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS). While no procedure can guarantee a cure, RNS represents offers a promising next step in option and offers hope for reducing the frequency and severity of her seizures. If successful, it may also allow her physicians to reduce some of the medications she currently depends on, giving her the opportunity for a greater quality of life and the ability for her to have a family of her own.

While insurance will cover much of the medical care, significant expenses remain. This fundraiser will help with medical expenses not covered by insurance, travel to and from appointments, living expenses during her anticipated two- to four-month recovery, and any unforeseen costs associated with her treatment and rehabilitation.

Our goal is to raise $50,000.

There are three meaningful ways you can stand with Alyssa and our family:

Pay – Make a financial contribution of any amount. Every gift, regardless of size, helps ease the financial burden of treatment and recovery.

Play – Join us at our charity golf tournament hosted by Tour 18 - Dallas, located in Flower Mound, Texas on Friday, October 16th, 2026. Spend a day on the course while helping Alyssa move one step closer to a healthier future. Follow the link below to reserve your spot today!

Pray – If you believe in the power of prayer, we humbly ask you to pray for wisdom for her physicians, a successful procedure, peace during recovery, and renewed hope for the future.

Whether you choose to pay, play, or pray, you become part of Alyssa’s story.

Our family has witnessed incredible kindness throughout this journey, and we are deeply grateful for every act of generosity, encouragement, and prayer. Thank you for standing beside Alyssa as she takes this next courageous step toward the life she has worked so hard to build.

With sincere gratitude,

The Canfield Family
