Loving on Rhue
Donation protected
Sweet baby Rhue will be 2 on November 24th. She is a beautiful, energetic little girl with a fun personality who looks just like her Momma!
About a month ago, Rhue started showing signs of problems with her bowels. After a visit to the Pediatrician, Alison changed her diet and started a well known OTC remedy. There was some movement, but Rhue was still showing signs of discomfort and pain. This was when Alison noticed a small lump on her bottom. Worried that it was something more to do with her bowel pains, she took Rhue back to the doctor. The lump was very sensitive to the touch, and Rhue was having trouble getting comfortable.
Fast forward a few days and back at the Pediatrician's office they decided she needed to be sent to UMC to have an ultrasound performed on her under the eye of a Surgeon. That was when they decided a CT scan needed to be done, because he worried that the lump was a tumor.
The CT results showed that the lump was in fact a tumor, and is wrapped around the front and back of her pelvis. Her discomfort comes from the tumor squeezing everything in that area almost closed, including her rectum and bladder. This is why she is having so much pain, on top of the frequent bladder spasms.
They are managing her pain for now, and pending results from a biopsy and MRI that was done last Friday, the 1st, they are planning to operate Friday November the 8th.
Possible scenarios are a Teratoma tumor, that can likely be removed with the scheduled surgery with possible Chemo to follow, or a form of Cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. This one would require a more aggressive Chemotherapy and several treatments to follow.
We will know more in that days to come, but please consider helping Alison and Rhue with their future medical bills. Trying to explain to a 2 year old why they hurt so badly is hard enough on a Momma, but what is even harder is the unknown financial state that any of these treatments can leave you in.
More than anything, please add Alison, baby Rhue and big sister Halle to your thoughts and prayers. We want them to know they are covered in prayers and love!
