At the End of November my daughter Promyse Bell was complaining about having headaches and being more tired then normal. We thought she was having normal cold/flu symptoms and didn’t think much of it. Soon after Promyse had a seizure which is one of the scariest things to see as a Parent. On December 7th We took our Daughter Promyse Bell to Children’s Hospital in Oakland, Ca.

Me and my Family have been here at children’s hospital since December 7th fighting with Promyse. What we thought were only Seizures turned out to be a Rare Condition Called “NMDAR Encephalitis.” It’s a condition that causes your Brain to have an infection and start to Swell. The condition is what caused her to start having seizures. She has lost most of her functions and control of her brain. She has trouble talking, moving, and seeing at times. She has very little to no communication skills right now and a few weeks ago we had a Perfectly healthy 13year old daughter. This a very Rare, New, and Unexplainable condition that even the Doctors are having a tough time to cure. The doctors are letting us know that this will be a long and hard process on the road to recovery and getting Promyse back to her old self.

Through research and test they were able to determine that Promyse had a ovarian tumor which caused the Rare Condition “NMDAR Encephalitis.” Her body was trying to fight off the ovarian tumor but was not able to do so. He body then created Antibodies which turned bad and started to attack her brain. Which caused the swelling and inflammation. She now has uncontrollable Fevers, High Blood Pressure, and random high Heart Rates. Her brain is being controlled by the Antibodies which has her dealing with multiple different symptoms. This a fairly new condition that there has been very few studies in. So Promyse’s story and life will be documented to maybe help another little girl in the future with this rare condition.

Through this troubled Time me and my wife will have to be by Promyse’s side 100% of the time which is really hard. We have both been missing work and other family time with our younger kids Amour (5yrs old) and Ace (1yrs old) and Promyse’s older brother Kidonyae (14yrs Old). At this time our family is divided and broken and we are looking for any help or assistance we can get at this very very hard time that came out of nowhere and attacked our daughter and Family.
