Parker Suffers Brain Injury at Daycare
Donation protected
On September 16, 2021, my sister Jenny got a terrifying call that her 1 year old son, Parker, was injured at daycare and was being transported to Unity Point Iowa Methodist Hospital.
He was nonresponsive and his pupils were unequal. An emergency Cat Scan revealed a serious brain injury with 2 life threatening bleeds. He was rushed to an emergency craniectomy, 4-hour surgery. A large piece of the skull was removed to allow for swelling. He lost so much blood, a blood transfusion was needed during the surgery and then again after the surgery.
He was transferred to PICU, heavily sedated and on a ventilator. The first 72 hours were very critical.
During the first ten days he had multiple scans and an MRI showed the whole right side of his brain is damaged. He was also having seizures and neuro storms.
There have been small improvements but there are so many unknowns as James and Jenny take things day by day.
Parker has 2 older brothers, Sawyer 4 and Hudson 3, that are waiting for him to come home.
This has been such a tragic incident, James and Jenny will be able to use any donations to help pay for Parker’s current, future, and long term medical and rehab expenses, not covered by insurance and assist with personal expenses while they are missing work.
Anything you can give is very much appreciated, even if you cannot afford to give much, please share Parker’s story.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
