Love for Luna

7/21 Update: When Luna showed some signs of progress yesterday morning, we took that as light and hope, and held on to it. It wasn't until later that afternoon that we realized how severe the situation was. Although Luna's numbers decreased from their height, they had not improved since we first brought her to the ER. Her kidneys had failed, she was shivering, and she still could not manage to eat. Her care providers had no confidence that she would make it, but were certain that if she did...she would have a hard life. We love Luna with all our hearts - it's hard to even type - but we made the decision to let her go from this world. She seemed unwell from the day we first got her, but we thought we could nurse her to happy spirits. It turns out that her health was compromised from the start. Although we couldn't have her live longer in this world, we feel lucky to have shared 9 days full of cuddles, Zoom calls, and love. Thank you to everyone who has shown us and Luna support on this journey. Your love will carry our Luna to the moon; we'll always know to find Luna among the stars.

Update: Luna is still in critical care at the ER and suffered from acute kidney failure but is slowly recovering as of this afternoon (7/20). Luna's sugar level is still low (40) and she is still underweight (1.4 lbs now), but they still need to keep her hospitalized for another 2-days to monitor her recovery. Thank you again for all your financial support and positive thoughts/prayers.

Luna, a 7-week old Labraheeler puppy, is in critical care at the ER and could use your support. Born on June 1st, 2020, she was found in the TX countryside stray alongside her seven brothers and sisters. The puppies were found with Luna’s mother, who unfortunately passed away due to unknown reasons. When Aly met Luna last Saturday (7/11) it was kismet.
Luna is very ill and was admitted to the ER at 1:30 AM last night (read her story below). At this point, Luna is expected to be the ER for 2 nights (minimum), which is estimated at $3,000 with tests, x-rays, and care. We are trying to raise money to cover the cost of her treatment along with the hospitalization.
Luna is a sweet, strong girl who deserves a healthy and playful life and we all want to see her make a quick recovery! We know there are many organizations and people that are deserving of your financial support, and we would feel blessed to accept any contribution. Your support means the world.

Having pets isn’t common in Aly’s culture - considering the extra time he has at home during COVID-19, he wanted to use it to give an animal a home. What he thought would be a visit to see if Luna and him were a match turned into the day he got to bring Luna to her forever home.
From the day we picked Luna up, she seemed off - Luna would not eat and vomited daily, sometimes multiple times. We did the best we could as new parents, asking friends, joining online support groups, and in constant communication with her vet. After a consultation, we chalked it up to the deworming medication, trauma of losing her mother, and the stress of adjusting to a new home. Sadly, Luna has not gotten or felt any better.
Aly has not left her side and is determined to get Luna healthy and happy. As a new puppy parent, he hasn’t slept through the night the past week since Luna came into his life. He holds her in his arms while he takes her on walks and gives her lots of love. While Aly may be a new dog parent, I don’t know if Luna could have a more patient human.
Last night (6/18), her vomiting got worse and with her lack of appetite persisting for more than a week, we took her to the ER. Currently, Luna is hooked up to IVs as doctors are trying to diagnosis her condition.
In order to treat her properly, we need to keep her in the ER for longer. The financial cost is overwhelming; however, we won’t give up on Luna, and we hope you can help us give her the life and love she deserves.
Sincerely,
Luna's Family
