My name is Sandra Larie and I am hoping to raise some funds to help my son and his girlfriend, Katie, to make a trip to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.   My son, James Morningstar, suffers with a pilocytic astrocytoma (brain tumor) which is located in a very critical area on the brain stem.  On July 16, 2014, James underwent a 10-hour brain surgery to remove 50% of the brain tumor and remained in Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for 12 days and had inpatient rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Jimmy underwent a total of 30 radiation treatments while attending high school to graduate his senior year and also played varsity soccer.  James is a healthy and athletic young man who is enjoying life, remaining self-sufficient, working full-time daily with no interruptions right now with his life style but we are patiently awaiting the signs of the tumor’s growth that will certainly appear and cause him symptoms sooner or later.  When that happens, the local surgeons have told him that his only option is surgery to remove more of the tumor.  Having had this surgery before, he is not looking forward to the symptoms or the surgery again but they say it is inevitable.  This is why we are seeking help from the Mayo Clinic and right now, they are considering him as a patient.  It is my hopes that they accept him as a patient and will give him other options to stop the growth of this brain tumor before it causes him neurological or physical problems.  I am asking for some help to offset his and his girlfriend’s expenses as they will be taking unpaid time off of work and traveling to Minnesota for a visit in the near future.  Thank you for your consideration.  I will keep you all posted at #jimmystrong #prayforjimmymorningstar <3 <3 <3
