Kayla and Jim are an amazing couple raising 4 wonderful kids. Grant is their spunky, energetic, football loving 8 year old. Last week, Grant had a bout of tonsillitis with a high fever, but he seemed to recover from it. Yesterday at school (12-11-2020), Grant was very quiet. He said he felt fine, but was not his usual self and ended up going to bed early. This morning (12-12-2020) he woke up burning up and started seizing. An ambulance was called, and he had to be sedated en route. When he got to the hospital, his oxygen had dropped and they intubated him. He had to be placed in a medically induced coma for transport and a helicopter took him from Lowville to Syracuse. Tonight, Grant is still in a coma and they hope to wake him up in the morning (12-13-2020). The promising news is that he does have full function of his brain. Grant’s siblings and family are scared. Kayla and Jim both are in Syracuse waiting to see him again. Due to these circumstances, Jim is unable to work at the moment and Kayla has been facing her own medical concerns. We are hoping to raise at least $5,000 to help cover hotel stay, food, gas and ease any other financial burdens that come along the way. No one should have to worry about money when their child is sick.
