On June 28, my 2 year old niece Gianna was running behind her dad. He tried to catch her to stop her, but she tripped and fell into a fire pit they were preparing to cook on. She burned 30% of her body. Her complete right arm, her back, left arm, her right thigh. The ER they went to had them airlifted to Comers to an extraordinary burn unit.

She will be having surgery Wednesday to clean the burns on her right arm, and find out if they need to do a skin graft on the burns in the various areas of her body. She will be there at least 2 weeks, and every surgery adds a week. 

My sister and brother in law have been through so much in the past six years including losing a child at birth and now they are back at this same hospital. Gianna is the middle child, they have a 6 year old and a baby who will be 1 on July 1st and my sister won’t be there to celebrate.

Due to Covid they are only allowing my sister in the room with Gianna. She can’t see her other two kids, and is dealing with so much right now. 

The medical bills for the ER room, the helicopter and the burn unit are going to be unreal, and then add on at least one surgery, if not more.
