The sweetest 7 old girl! Not afraid to Karaoke her way around to Frozen's "Let It Go". Loving and adorable! ..... These are just a few simple ways one could describe 7 year old Gia Zappa. She easily wins the hearts of anyone she comes in contact with. Whether it be by her sweet voice or her un-ending thoughtfulness for family and friends, it can be said that your life is better when Gia is close by!


     
     But now there's a Big Problem! This tiny bundle of joy is already facing the Biggest Fight Of Her Life!! 
     
     Gia Zappa was severely injured while heading home after a great day spent with family and friends in the Croom park area near Brooksville, FL.

     Gia was riding home with her father (Tyler, 33) and brother (Dominick, 12) around 8:30pm on December 25th, 2016 when tragedy struck. Gia, unbeknownst to her father and brother, removed her seat belt from the back seat of their Jeep Wrangler to enjoy the breezy ride out of Croom and fell out of the vehicle while it was traveling down a straightaway on the hard packed, dirt road area of La Rose Road.

     Her father immediately called for 911 and alerted immediate family. Emergency personnel arrived promptly and due to the severity of her injuries, a Bayflite airlift to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa was ordered.

     Gia was unconscious at the time of the accident and medical personnel at St Joseph's determined that she suffered a fractured heel, pelvis, jaw & nose. In addition, a contusion on her heart was found along with a collapsed lung.

     As of December 27th, Gia remains in a coma at St. Joseph's and is slowly showing signs of progress. While the swelling in her body has been lessening, the pressure in her cranium is carefully watched.


     
     The past few days have been particularly difficult for relatives and friends of the Zappa family. Many friends from the Zappa's local congregation have visited St. Joseph's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to offer their love and support for the family. Despite the time-limited opportunities to comfort the Zappa's, many come in groups to speak, hug, and cry with them over Gia's fragile condition.

     The Zappa's wish to extend their most heartfelt thanks for all those who have offered their love,time, resources, meals and most importantly, prayers for their Gia and theif family.

     A Go Fund Me account has been setup for the Zappa family to assist with oncoming medical expenses. The family has prepared to do all that is necessary to stay by the side of their little Gia during these critical times as she fights to recover from her injuries. Any donations made would certainly be appreciated, and would be direct towards alleviating the financial responsibilities associated with her treatments and care.

     With only 6 days to go, Gia was very much looking forward to her first airplane ride to Connecticut,  where she would be spending her first time playing in snow alongside her dad and brother. Our hope is that she will be able to realize those dreams and memories in complete health after healing from her injuries.
