Pray for Coach Ivan

Coach Ivan Ramirez has been a big part of the softball and baseball community for many years. He has made a huge impact on the lives of so many young players and athletes. Whether they played for him, played against him at some point, trained with him, practiced with him or came to him for advice. He has always been willing to put in the extra work for a game that he loves, and now it's our chance to give back. 

On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, March 31st Ivan Ramirez was at home with his family when he received an alert on his cellphone that one of the doors to his truck had been opened. He reacted quickly and rushed outside to see what was causing the alert and was unfortunately met by someone attempting to steal his truck. This person was armed and after seeing Ivan, immediately opened fire, striking him four times before fleeing. Investigators are working to bring those responsible to justice. 

Rebecca, his wife and Manny, his son -  did all they could to keep pressure on his wounds and also found help from neighbors before paramedics quickly arrived on scene. He was transported immediately to Ben Taub's Level I Trauma Center and is still there currently fighting. Those that know Ivan, know he is strong and will pull through this battle. He is surrounded by his family and friends who have covered him in prayer. He is in God's hands so we know he will pull through. 

Ivan is currently in critical care condition and has underwent multiple surgeries, procedures and blood transfusions. The doctors are working diligently to get him stabilized. There are a lot of unknowns at this time, but one thing I know is that the Ramirez' are some of the most loyal people you will ever meet. Anyone who really knows Ivan knows that his heart is as a big as his voice and we've set up this GoFundMe page in the hopes that we can ease some of the financial burden on his family. Ivan will not be able to work for the foreseeable future which leaves his beautiful family fighting much harder than we want them to be. 

Even if you cannot contribute, please take the time to keep Ivan, Rebecca, Alexis, Ivanney and Manny in your prayers. As well as all the physicians and medical staff working to treat him.
