On February 17, at 12:03pm 32 year old Brock Charles was struck while crossing the street on foot by a 2016 Freightliner Tractor pulling a 2013 Great Dane trailer on Rt 1 in Rehoboth.
He was flown to Beebe hospital and then flown to Christiana Hospital and admitted into intensive care where he was on a ventilator with severe brain damage. It's a miracle, but he didn't break a bone in his body.
Unfortunately, all the trauma is in his head and therefore, caused damage to his brain, more specifically his frontal lobe. Brock comes from an amazing family that would do anything for anyone. I know his because they are my family!
So many people have expressed concern and offered prayer during this difficult time, and the entire family is beyond appreciative! His mother Joanne is self employed. When something horrific happens to your baby boy you can't imagine leaving his side, but when self employed you are in a bad situation. We don't want her to feel the stress of working full time right now so she can concentrate on Brock's recovery. His whole family (including Step-Father Tom Givens, 2 sisters - Jennifer Morelli and Taylor Bateson) have traveled from Rehoboth to Christiana Hospital constantly. Once discharged from Christiana Hospital the family will follow Brock to Pennsylvania where he will begin rehabilitation at a Brain Trauma center. This means hotel rooms, gas, tolls and so much more as you can imagine, not to mention the unexpected medical bills that have already started. They would never ask for help so I'm taking it upon myself to ask. We would like to raise as much money as we can to help this family cover not only medical and travel expenses but to also continue to prepare for a long road to recovery for Brock. Family is the most important thing in life as only your family has the same blood flowing through their veins and that connects you in a way unlike any other!
Please put yourself in their position and help this family so they can concentrate on what's important!
