Earlier this week, Niki’s son, Ashton, was in an auto-pedestrian accident.  He entered the hospital in a coma with both lungs collapsed.  He never regained consciousness, but at one point began to get agitated, so the doctors have put him into a medically induced coma to prevent brain swelling.  He will be maintained in this condition until safe to wean him.   Ashton has been diagnosed with severe diffuse axonal injury, and will remain in the ICU for a minimum of 6 weeks.  

Ashton Days is 23 years old at the Dell Seton hospital in Austin.
