Hello , my name is Jerame Carter and I am writing this to hopefully help my son Praxon and our little family threw this challenging time we are faced with. A few weeks ago my 5 year old son praxon was riding around on his pw 50 with his brother Preston on his bike as well. In the pasture behind our house. Praxon trying to keep up with his brother hit a hole at full speed and went over the handle bars tumbling with the bike until it came to a stop. Right about that time i ran out to help him. Needless to say it was his worst crash to date. Once i got him calmed down and helmet and stuff off he was still having bad stomach pain. Not knowing if he broke a rib or did some kind of internal damage i took him to the emergency room. After a bunch of tests and ct scan it was found that he had lacerated his liver and kidney which was bad enough. But then the dr proceeds to tell me he has a 3.7 cm. Mass on his brain that was pre existing and that another hospital had to be contacted because they couldn't do anything. 25 minutes later praxon and i were in a helicopter heading to children's hospital in madera. After two days there and a bunch of more tests it was determined that they also could not do anything so then it was a 3 hr ambulance ride to UCSF. Where we spent another 3 days and underwent a 4 hr biopsy surgery to remove a piece of the mass for testing. The next day we were sent home for a couple days while awaiting test results. 5 days later we went in for results. Ends up he has a very rare bone cyst on the right side of his brain that only 20 cases in the world have ever been recorded and non of the teams at UCSF had ever seen nor worked on before. So far hes lost all the hearing in his right ear and has caused paralysis affecting the right side of his face. Last Thursday April 7 th he was admitted back into UCSF where he is awaiting brain surgery to try and remove as much of the mass as possible. Because it is all intertwined around his hearing canal ,the main artery on that side for his brain and ghe main nerve for his face they can not remove it all but will try to get as much as they can. He will permanently loose his hearing on right side and they have to remove his balance mechanism on right side as well to get to the mass. Surgeons said we are looking at a 6 to 8 hr operation & if all goes well a short stay in icu afterwards and week recovery in the hospital. I never in my wildest dreams imagined ware this road was gonna lead us. It doesn't still even seem real to me. All we can do is take it one day at a time and pray. Im making this page as a last stitch effort to saving our home and lively hood while enduring all that happened. Im un able to work at this time being in SF. every day with him and he has a two year old sister that i have 100% custody of i have to find care for her while im away. The hospital wont even let her go in with me because they say its “flu season “ and wont allow any kids not being seen under 5 to enter the hospital. Between the bills mounding at home the cost of back and forth to hospital and the full time care for my daughter while im away. Im pretty much at the end of my financial road and am really left with no option that can accommodate my situation. With that being said anything that could be sent would be beyond appreciated & if not thats ok if you could just keep my son in your prayers would be amazing. We need as many of those as we can get right now. Thank you and God bless
