On 18 August our friend Stina Prater went to the hospital in Great Falls for an Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, or ERCP, which is a procedure to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas after she had her gallbladder removed. It combines X-ray and the use of an endoscope—a long, flexible, lighted tube. This is a fairly routine procedure, but over the course of the next week Stinas condition got worse and she has remained in the hospital since. On August 24th doctors in Great Falls determined that she had a tear in her pancreas, likely from the endoscope, and that they were not equipped to continue to treat her. She is now on her way to the University of Washington medical center via aircraft. Both Stina and her husband Jeremy have now missed a significant amount of work and could use our support to help fund travel for the family back and forth from Seattle as well as to pay the medical bills that will be very significant.
