Donate in memory of Jessica Marie

We’ve lost my baby sister suddenly and unexpectedly this week. As this was such a shock to the family, and others asking me to create this so they could donate I wanted to start a go fund me. Funds will be used for funeral expenses, as well as expenses incurred as the family dropped everything to be by her side. Parking, food, missed work time.

Here was the fullest update:

8:30 PM Update: February 10

I want to start this by saying Jessica defied the odds at every turn.

When Jessica was a baby she was born with noonan syndrome. She’s needed heart surgeries and had a special made pulmonary valve. What caused this was a bacterial microorganism attached to that valve giving her a blood infection and causing it to fail. This was the cause.

When you go as long as she did with severely low blood pressure normally the heart just stops. Jessica’s heart never gave up even though only half of it is working. It is still beating at this minute.

When Jessica arrived at Peter lougheed and they determined quickly she needed to be transported to foothills urgently they didn’t think she would make it and prepared us for that outcome. But she did.

When Noel and I stood by her bed watching the monitors with the doctor Friday night all through the night, they thought she wouldn’t last the night. But she did.

Then Saturday her heart and blood pressure stabilized. She continued to defy the odds.

Then Sunday when her stats continued to stabilize… she continued to defy the odds.

Jessica fought and defied the odds every turn.

When you go that long with severely low blood pressure there are things that can take a few days to show up.

This morning they did another CT scan. They were able to compare the CT scan from the one they did Friday.

Unfortunately the CT scan showed that her brain had swelled to the point that the damage is irreparably and the level of brain damage that has occurred is not survivable.

I asked all the questions, I went through every possible option. At this point there is nothing more that can be done.

Jessica remains on life support tonight as it was her wish, that if possible she wanted to be an organ donor and give life to someone else.

They will do a test in the morning to see if she has total brain death. If it has not hit that point yet (though it is imminent) then they think there is actually a good chance that she will be able to give life to someone else.

At this time the family has been taking time to spend these last moments with her.

We are all devastated.
