Hi my is Hayden or to those who know me throughout the London/UK club scene 'Aitch B'
On April 9, the Caribbean island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, (where my Mother and Father were born)) the La Soufriere Volcano erupted for the first time in decades, spewing out lava and ash as high as 8 km into the air.
As a result of this activity, thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, and a considerable number of the island's residents were evacuated off the island.
The effects of the volcano's activity sparked a humanitarian crisis that is continually growing, and some experts believe it will be ongoing for many months. Vast swathes of the island are still covered in ash. The ash has seriously impacted the quality of the water supply and ruined crops and destroyed peoples livelihoods.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines are home to just over 110,000 people, 4,000 of whom currently live in shelters across the island. Some shelters lack basic services, and the entire population of the main island does not have access to clean water and electricity.
There's also a concern about an accelerated COVID-19 outbreak as those who have had to leave from the worse affected areas and crowd into shelters and family homes
The main objectives now are:
1. Restore full access to electricity and clean water across the island.
2. Support the long relief program to deal with the aftermath of the La Soufrière volcanic eruption,
In support of the island and my extended family who reside there, On Saturday, May 15th, I will be taking part in a London to Southend-on-Sea cycle ride to help raise funds to pay the shipping cost of a container of much-need supplies and if possible help provides funds to purchase any additional necessary items such food, water, sanitation aids, clothing, etc etc...
Any support by way of sponsorship pledges/donations /sharing of this appeal would be most appreciated.
Give Thanks
Blessed Regards
Hayden 'Aitch B' Browne
