My mom’s name is Sue Stotts; a woman that raised me by herself for 24 years. My mom, the strongest person I know, had a COPD attack on December 27, 2016. We can’t thank God enough for allowing me to be in town for Christmas break when my mom had her attack. I was asleep upstairs that morning and I woke up to my mom yelling my name; I ran downstairs and found her in a panic barely saying that she couldn’t breathe. I called 911 and tried my best to stay calm even though my mind was absolutely freaking out… at one point I thought my mom was going to die in my arms. The paramedics finally came and rushed her to the emergency room. The doctors were close to intubating her but were able to finally get her breathing under control.
Now (December 29), mom is still in the hospital and having lots of tests done but we are praying she will be able to go home soon. The doctors are under the assumption that the attack had to do with her COPD but also her heart. Whatever it is that’s going on, you better believe we are going to tackle it head on and work on creating a healthier lifestyle for her. It makes me very sad that I live all the way in Tennessee and can’t be there more for my mom.
If you don’t know my mom, here is a little information about her and my relationship. My mom is a single mother and has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. She deserves a standing ovation for raising me all by herself and for all of the sacrifices she has made for me. She is 58 years old and has had her share of health issues. In 2013 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy and went through chemo treatments. She is now in full remission!
I played sports year-round since I was 5 years old and I can count on two hands the number of games she missed. Between sports, school and anything else I was involved in… she was there, my biggest supporter, always. Leaving for college and moving 8 hours away was the best decision I’ve ever made but it was also one of the hardest. It’s always been just my mom and I, so leaving meant leaving her alone. I had the comfort of knowing her sisters and other family was close by but it was still tough.
I’ve created this GoFundMe page in hopes to raise money for my mom’s hospital bills. Not only will the bills start piling up from this stay (i.e. ambulance ride, emergency room, medication, etc.) but she still hasn’t paid off all of her bills from her breast cancer surgery and chemo treatments. I know everyone says this, but literally anything you can give would be such a huge help to my mom. If you aren’t able to help financially, prayers would be greatly appreciated!
I want to keep this a secret from my mom until we, God willing, reach our goal! God bless and thank you for taking the time to read about what a wonderful woman my mom is and how much we would appreciate your support in this difficult time.
