"Having a bad year" is a total understatement for Debbie and Kevin.
It has been never ending hurt for the entire family and it just keeps on coming.
Aunt Deb and Uncle Kev just had to say good bye to their son Michael a couple of weeks ago after a super long battle of trying to get him better after his accident.
Aunt deb told me before he passed that there wasn't a single day where she hadn't cried over Mike. Her children are her light in this world and this just shook her to her core.
Thankfully the family all rallied up to try and help as much as we can and thank goodness for Kevin because that man has been a true rock for her and the family.
After the accident Kevin took some time off to be with Debbie but that time eventually had to stop because he couldn't afford to stay home and he went back on the boat. Thankfully it was for a short while and he was able to take an extended leave to be with the family and help Mike even more.
Uncle Kev was at that hospital every single day he was home cheering Mike on and helping him with his rehabilitation and then coming home and helping Debbie and everyone else cope.
He was suppose to go back on the boat again but then they received the news that Mike was not doing good and everything had taken a turn for the worse and it was time everyone should start saying their goodbyes.
At the exact same time this happened aunt Deb started to cough up blood. We weren't sure if it was brought on by stress and she told everyone to not worry about it but again Thank Kevin because he told her she had to take care of herself too and he forced her to go to the doctor.
The last thing she wanted to do was talk to a doctor about herself when her son was to pass anytime but Kev said nope you are going!
As she was having tests done in a hospital in Hamilton, Mike had passed. She feels so guilty for no being able to be there but it was so important for her to find out what was wrong with her.
It turns out that she has lung cancer and had a huge tumor in her lung along with a hole in her lung.
A week after Mike's funeral she went in for surgery to have the tumor removed and the hole repaired. She hasn't even had the time to grieve before she was thrown this new obstacle in her life.
She has a long recovery and has been re admitted to the hospital because she couldn't breath and found out she has pneumonia and now diabetes as well.
Thankfully once again Kevin is at her side doing absolutely everything (even being molly maid lol poor aunt deb) but with no work it has now come to the point where they finally realize they need help.
So many people have been so helpful without even being asked to but financially they have been drained and Kevin will be forced to go back to work before Debbie is healed if they don't ask for help.
Im trying to raise enough so Kevin can stay home to take care of Deb and have atleast one less thing to worry about.
I know there is a great community standing behind them because they and especially Debbie have done so much for everyone else and would still give if anyone needed.
Thank you to everyone who has texted, called or dropped off some food.
They cannot thank everyone enough for the love and support.
