I absolutely hate to be leaning, once again, on donations from my friends in order to repair my home, but my roof has developed several pretty serious leaks and the (conservative) estimate to repair it is £800. It could cost as much as £1,500. It depends on how much damage the leak has caused. Home insurance will not cover this, as it is classified as wearing and tear. The roofer has patched the leaks with a tarp, but this is a temporary measure. It's winter, and the roof really needs to be repaired. This does explain the mold and the massive cost of heating — also the bubbling in my ceiling plaster. In addition, the insulation up there had been torn out, and it needs to be put back down and secured. A large portion of the insulation must be replaced. In any case, I am very sorry about this. It has been an absolute nightmare.
