Athletes for Autism

Donation protected
Our son Adam was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 3. Adam is now 5 and just started Kindergarten.

The classroom is a special place where children with Autism will spend a good portion of their lives outside of their homes. It is the cornerstone of their development and the gateway to their socialization. Unique learning styles call for unique tools and resources that in many cases go far beyond the basic setup of most classrooms. This could mean adaptive equipment, sensory tools, communication devices, special education software etc. The reality is that these tools are expensive and special education programs are often underfunded.

There have been many efforts organized around Autism research, Autism awareness, and promoting early intervention and diagnostic screening but not nearly as many efforts are geared towards actually helping our kids and our schools. We decided to create Athletes for Autism and we intend on taking 100% of your donations directly to the classroom!

Every child deserves to have access to the tools and resources they need to excel in the classroom and in life! Let us set a good example in Dayton, Ohio and lead the way in improving special education programs and emphasizing the importance of school choice for these families! Ultimately all of our efforts align with accepting neurodiversity!

Your donations will be used to purchase items for a new sensory room at Primary Village South in Centerville, Ohio.

So what is a sensory room ?

“A multi sensory environment is a dedicated space or room where sensory stimulation can be controlled, presented in isolation or combination, packaged for active or passive interaction, and matched to fit the perceived motivation, interests, leisure, relaxation, therapeutic and/or educational needs of the user.”
