Hi Everyone! This is Stephanie posting this, Debbie’s oldest daughter, and I would like to start out saying that neither of my parents know that I am creating this for them yet. I am hoping that my mom will see just how loved she is from all of our friends and family, and that we are able to bless her through this!
As most of you know, my mom has been in a relentless battle with lymphoma cancer for a little over 4 years now. She has endured countless difficult treatments, surgeries and complications along the way. On January 5th, both my mom and my dad traveled out to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX (as they regularly have to do) for Debbie’s checkup/treatment and are still there. Unfortunately, while they were there my mom took a turn for the worse. The latest rounds of tests and scans have determined that her liver, which was previously clear, is now covered in fast growing tumors as well. She had to be admitted to the hospital out in Texas as her health began to deteriorate rapidly. Since being in the hospital she has developed an incredibly painful Shingles infection on her face and throughout her body leading to both hearing and vision loss. They were also concerned about pneumonia and meningitis – leading to an incredibly painful and unsuccessful spinal tap as well. Due to all of these complications/infections, the liver biopsy had initially been put on hold, but at this time they believe that they have to act fast in order to diagnose/treat her and save her life. She will be having a liver biopsy today (4-7pm EST) that they have deemed extremely risky due to her fragile condition. On top of all of this, she is in complete isolation. Unable to receive anything (flowers, balloons, outside food, etc.) and can have absolutely no visitors other than the nurses and doctors covered from head to toe in full hazmat suits. For the last 4 years it truly has been bad news, after bad news and my mother has remained positive through it all. Many people would not have been able to fight through the incredible amount of pain she is in, but my mom is one in a million and isn’t ready to give up yet! And we are not ready to let her go!
Between the constant traveling, pet care for the animals at home, extended hotel and hospital stays, treatments and astronomical medical bills, my parents have had to extend a tremendous amount financially over the last 4 years. Many have asked if they could help, and my hope is that together, we may be able to lift some of that financial burden off of them during this fight. Every single donation, share, comment and/or prayer is so unbelievably appreciated!
