Hello all! I've created this GoFundMe to assist my sister, Becca, with the long road she has ahead. On February 19th, she had an episode when she was trying to undo her seatbelt. She got her left hand over the button but lost the ability to continue the task. Her brain was telling her hand to release the seatbelt, but it wasn't moving. She went to work the whole next week, seemingly fine. Then on February 28th, when she and my mom were home, she experienced a similar episode while she was holding a glass. This time she figured she'd better head to the ER to see what was going on. They found a 3.6 cm tumor (which is large for the brain) on her brain that was surrounded by tons of swelling. She also has 3 smaller tumors in there as well. They did some further imaging to see if there were any other areas of concern in her body. They found 6-7 lesions on her lungs, one on her adrenal gland, and one on her ovary. All of the healthcare professionals on her team were completely shocked that she wasn't a lot more symptomatic given the size of the large tumor. What we know so far is, being it's in multiple organs, it's a metastatic cancer and stage 4. We are awaiting final pathology to find out where it started and confirm if it is melanoma, or some other type, as she has had melanoma removed from her skin in the past and her surgeon described the large tumor as "very bloody," which is consistent with melanoma. Less than 24 hours after finding the mass in her brain, she went in for surgery to have it removed. Talk about a surprise! They were able to get most of it. Again, her neurosurgeon expected her to come out of surgery with mobility issues on her left side, or at the very least, numbness. She had none of that. We are so grateful that God provided her surgeon with steady hands! Before all of this, excluding the few episodes of ataxia, she thought she was perfectly fine! While this all sounds scary, cancer treatments have come a very, very long way. And we are thankful for the ability to be able to research other avenues to keep her body strong through traditional treatment. She is in good spirits and so is everyone surrounding her. She is one of the most stubborn people I have ever met! She has been training her whole life to kick this cancer's ass! She has reached her marathon and she will come out victorious! If you reach out to her, she will only accept positive prayers, vibes, and words. She is forevermore living in a positive, uplifting state of mind. No pity, no worry, no negativity allowed! ♀️
We have a few hurdles to overcome so she can focus on getting healthy again. She doesn't currently have insurance, so we are working through that. She's already been out of work for a week and will not be able to return until she's kicked this thing's ass. She and my mom live together and each pay half of the bills. Being that Becca can no longer work, they need help to stay afloat so the only thing they have to worry about is getting Becca through all of the medical things. She cannot have money worries interfering with her progress. If you've ever struggled to pay the bills, you know how defeating that can be, and if you've never experienced it, consider yourself lucky. If you cannot donate, you can help by sharing this and sending positive and healing prayers and vibes! They will work just the same. I will post updates as we have them. Thank you for your consideration. Peace ✌ and love ❤️
