Help Momma

Hi! My name is Kimberley Garbiel and I'm fundraising for my mother, Paulette Crawford.

On November 26, 2023 mom woke up and could not move. They rushed her to hospital where she spent the first 10 days of this journey. There she was diagnosed with Gullian Barre Syndrome as result of her Covid booster. She was given 2 very high doses of IVIG and sent to a skilled nursing facility. She was rushed back to ER 24 hours later unable to breathe where she was intubated and continued to get worse. She spent another week in ICU on a ventilator with a trachea tube. On December 26, 2023 she was transferred to a long term care hospital to begin process of ventilator weaning. She progressively got worse for the first couple of weeks there. Eventually things leveled out with the heart rate, mucus plugs, and blood pressure. End of January or beginning of February 2024 she was finally weaned of the vent and eventually progressed to being able to eat puree foods.

This brings us to today. She was transferred Feb 15, 2024 to inpatient rehabilatation at The Rehabilitation Insititute of St. Louis. They will see how far she is able to progress for 2 weeks. Then its home for more therapy and doctors appointments.

I am only asking for this because we have to widen doors of her mobile home and rehab her bathroom to be handicap accessible. This also includes putting a ramp on her mobile home to be able to get a wheelchair in and out.

Any additional money will be used to pay her medical bills. She is on Social Security and gets $900 per month. The bills have began to roll in. I have $1000 just in ambulance bills. The first hospital stay bill has arrived. I'm still waiting for the ICU visit bill, the Long Term Acute Care bill, and this Rehab bill to roll in. In short she would never ask for help and they would get $10 a month, even if it was for the rest of her life and her last $10 for the month. I know she has touched many people's lives and I thought this may help provide a small amount of relief to her when she gets home.
