Yancy came to PPR from a NY kill shelter as a senior boy. He had a horrendous cough, difficulty walking, and high calcium levels. We were able to control his cough and improve his mobility, so much so that he now runs and plays like a puppy! Bloodwork showed his calcium level creeping up so we ran an ionized calcium panel and parathyroid panel to see what was causing the issue. The parathyroid panel was thru the roof, confirming a tumor. We immediately contacted VRC to get him in with the soft tissue surgeon, Dr. Sadenaga, who we know will give him the best care. Yancy is scheduled for his consult and ultrasound on October 2nd with surgery to be determined after a cardiac workup. The surgery will be $6000 as he will remain hospitalized for a few days afterwards since it is critical to monitor the calcium levels. We need to raise funds to help Yancy because without the surgery the calcium levels will continue to rise, affecting his heart and other organs until it eventually will kill him.
