Amy’s Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello, I am one of the daughters of Pat and Amy Hight. I am raising funds to help my mom receive the therapy she needs and deserves to regain her quality of life back and to help support my dad while he takes care of our mom and will not be able to work enough.
My family has been through an immense amount of tragedy the last 3 years. My youngest brother/mom and dad’s youngest child, took the life of his friend in my parent’s basement at 16 years old.
May 2023, He was sentenced to 30 years in prison once he turned 18. It absolutely crushed every ounce of our hearts annd lives and even more so my mother’s. This was only half of the family’s pain.
The family affected by my brother’s reckless actions has decided to sue my parents and my brother which will result in my dad’s wages being garnished. My dad will be representing himself in court since my family doesn’t have the money to cover the cost of a lawyer. Although I agree that my brother’s actions are completely valid for compensation, this shouldn’t be my parent’s burden.
On June 26th (2 days after my brother turned 18), Amy had a massive stroke. She was having a series of mini strokes up to this point a week before and even had a stroke 5 years ago which was mis-diagnosed as extreme vertigo. This recent stroke has paralyzed her ability to do most movements including speaking, walking, using the bathroom, and sitting up on her own. She still has her memory, determination, sense of humor and big heart.
She has come a long way since her initial days in the hospital where she could not swallow her food, which led to her needing a feeding tube for over 2 months.
Amy was in the hospital for 4 months and was finally discharged to an Acute Rehab Facility on October 20th. I am very grateful to have her and I want to help provide her with the care she deserves. She is one tough lady that deserves way more than she’s received.
My family has been through a lot and would be grateful for your support. What this fundraiser is intended to go towards-
- In-home therapy care (occupational, speech, and physical)
- In-home nurse aid support
- Support dad’s single and limited income
Thank you for your support and I am so grateful for my momma ❤️ My parents are my best friends and I would do anything for them.
