Tony Gravely is a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter training out of Tech MMA and Fitness Academy in Christiansburg, VA. Originally from Martinsville, Virginia, Tony wrestled at Magna Vista High School (Ridgeway, VA) where he won two state championships under Coach Zeak
Ca’stle.
After high school, Tony received a wrestling scholarship for Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Tony’s collegiate wrestling career saw him win two Southern Conference Championships and he was a two-time NCAA Division I National Qualifier. After graduating college with a degree in Construction Management, Tony started his career as a Construction Project Manager. It was during this time that Tony decided to start training in MMA, a lifetime goal of his.
After competing at the amateur level, Tony made the move to the professional ranks. In order to train and compete at the professional level, Tony made the difficult decision to quit his job and chase his lifelong dream. After competing in over 20 professional bouts, Tony now has a record of 16-5, holding three professional championship titles. He is also ranked among the top 3 in the United States in his weight class and is very close to taking the next big step in his career, getting signed to the UFC.
Though having success as a professional fighter, Tony and his wife Kayla, have sacrificed a lot financially. Due to Tony’s demanding training regiment and dedication to MMA, Kayla works a full-time job as a pre-school teacher in order to help keep his dreams alive and to be able to travel with him to fights. Although the life of a fighter may seem glamorous, it’s actually very difficult. Training, traveling, equipment, pre-fight medical examinations, and supplements are expensive to maintain.
