PPE for Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala

Dr. Irene Quieju has been a dear friend since 2005, when I spent a year in her town, Santiago Atitlan, in the Guatemalan Highlands. She was Santiago's first indigenous female doctor. Today, Dr. Irene works in the Public Health Center there, with 32 nurses in her section. She and her colleagues are in desperate need of PPE. They are wiping down disposable protective garments to re-use them, improvising with trash bags, or going entirely without to provide care for their patients.
The first 7 cases of COVID-19, diagnosed about two weeks ago, have already quadrupled, and are expected to keep growing as they have in other places. The Public Health Center is providing almost all medical care to Santiago and the surrounding area (a population of approximately 50,000) during this pandemic.
Dr. Irene has a reliable source for purchasing PPE in Guatemala, but the clinic does not have the funds to buy these materials. She has already spent her own money to purchase some PPE but can't continue to provide for her nurses' or her own needs by herself. She needs help to purchase more PPE and to secure the favorable pricing that comes with a larger purchase.
As many of you know, this town and its people are dear to my heart. Firas and I have made a donation, and we are hoping that our family and friends will as well because the need is great and immediate. If you are able, we ask you to consider contributing to help this brave doctor and her team. They want to help steer their village toward the better days we all dream are ahead, but they need support to do it.
