PPE for MIA Resident Physicians fighting COVID-19

Our world has been rattled by the pandemic of COVID-19. As health care workers our first priority is the safety of the community. To provide this care we need to protect ourselves and you all through the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to curtail the spread of this virus .

 We are a group of resident physicians in Miami, Florida, United States. We, along with other health professionals, are at the front lines of the COVID-19 epidemic working tirelessly to provide the best care we can to our patients; this is our honor and our oath.

Currently, one of the biggest concerns is the diminishing quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks, gowns, gloves, and face shields. Cases continue to increase exponentially, and PPE allows health care workers to limit the spread further  

As it stands, Miami has the highest amount of cases in the state of Florida and the predicted trajectory is only upwards in the coming weeks.

We are fundraising to get the PPE that is essential for us to maintain the workforce to treat our patients in a safe manner, prevent spread in hospitals, and provide safety for the community. 

Masks cost approximately $40 per box, although we are negotiating lower rates. We recognize that this is a difficult and scary time for many people- economically, emotionally, and physically. We will not give up and we are committed to the health of Miami.
