PPE for DC & NY

Hello All! We are 3rd-year medical students who have been working to support our clinical colleagues in the midst of this current COVID-19 pandemic and the severe nationwide PPE shortages.

Several hospitals and facilities in the DC area have expressed a need for additional face shields, which protect the entire face from contamination with highly infectious respiratory droplets and help to prolong the life of the precious N95s/surgical masks that are currently having to be reused for hours or even days on end.

After being inspired by the early efforts of the Providence group in Washington state, we have begun making our own face shields from materials purchased at office supply and craft stores. Because we are able to make these shields for less than $1 apiece, a donation of any amount goes a long way towards helping our providers.

We have distributed ~180 shields to several facilities across DC thus far, and plan to continue making hundreds more, as long as the need persists.

We completely understand that these are challenging financial times for all, but if you are able, any contribution would be greatly appreciated! All funds raised will be used to purchase the supplies in order to make and transport these face shields to the facilities in need. In the case of any excess funds, we will ensure that they are donated towards purchasing additional PPE for healthcare providers.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and stay safe!
