PPE for Community Members (Health, Safety, ORCSD)

By now we all are aware of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shortage facing the nation as we battle Coronavirus.

The national stories are heartbreaking and emotionally impacts the majority of us.

However sometimes it takes these stories hitting a bit closer to home to truly move a community towards making a difference...so here are a few stories from the Oyster River Communities:

- ER Nurse @ Wentworth Douglass who was issued a single N95 face mask to care for the most critically ill patients. This same mask is used day in and day out...

- ORCSD Bus Drivers and Kitchen staff who are making their own mask to ensure the safety of the food they are making and delivering to our families

- Assisted Living homes that are low on eye protection as they work with elderly residents with pre-existing conditions

- Our local PDs and FDs who are in need of a myriad of things as they respond to calls for assistance.

These are the folks who are on the front lines and do not get the luxury of only working from home, dealing with the challenges of the shift to eLearning, etc.

These are the essential employees that we all will rely on if/when we or a family member gets sick and needs help.

I am hoping our community can relieve some of the stress, pressure, and anxiety these folks feel by contributing what you can to this PPE focused campaign.

The funds will be used to purchase the following items:
- KN95 Respirator Mask
- Face Shields
- PVC Gloves

Anticipated Questions

Q: How do you have access to PPE when I hear there is a shortage.
A: The mother-in-law of a good friend owns a golf apparel brand. Her manufacturers have shifted their production to make PPE supplies to support the fight against Coronavirus/Covid19.

Q: Are we taking supplies from the people/organizations that need them?
A: No. 100% of supplies ordered will be provided to essential businesses/organizations in our community including Wentworth Douglass, Durham (NH) PD, Dover (NH) FD, and ORCSD Transportation. Additionally, a number of assisted living homes within Oyster River will benefit from theses supplies.

Q: Are you a real person?
A: I am a real person and have been an active member of the Oyster River Community for the five years we have lived here. I am a husband, father, coach, and supporter of doing what we need to make the lives of the kids of our community the best they can be.

Q: Are you making a profit/taking payment from the funds?
A: No. 100% of funds raised will be used to purchase PPE.

Q: Will you be transparent in terms of what is purchased, where it goes, and how much it cost?
A: Yes. I will post the final order numbers inclusive of what was ordered, quantity ordered, and total pricing. Additionally, I will update this page with where each item went. In terms of pricing we are looking at the following:
- KN95 Respirator Mask @ $5.50 for a package of two mask
- Face Shields @ $2 per face-shield
- PVC Gloves @ $0.15 per glove or $0.30 per pair

Q: Why are you doing this?
A: I was raised with the mindset that being a good person is doing what you can, when you can. These supplies are greatly needed by the people who protect and care for all of us.

Please contribute what you can and feel free to ask any questions.

Best,
James
