Raising funding to manufacture PPE full face visors for donation.
Our mission:
We are reaching out to those who can donate, to help produce, desperately needed, PPE visor during this last push against COVID-19.
As our economy and way of life rejuvenates back to its social strengths, the need for personal protection will not decrease within the NHS or for care workers or other essential industries.
This call for help is not only for the here and now but for the continued hard work that will no-doubt be ongoing post COVID-19 within the coming months ahead.
How it all started:
A few weeks ago Antonio and I felt the need to step in with our skill set and connections to help the fight against the current and post COVID-19 threat hitting our working heroes.
Within a matter of weeks, after brainstorming and researching the amazing work within the global design community, we finalised and developed a visor that:
- Can be flat packed, stored and transported;
- Made from one material;
- Reusable;
- Has a short supply chain;
- Cheap to produce;
- Does not require slow to produce 3D printed parts
The visor design:
As a personal protection visor, it is built for its simple function - protection - as well as not getting in the way of the user's day to day tasks.
The visor provides full face coverage from the user's forehead to chin and around the side of the cheeks.
It is angled to allow air to pass out the bottom, to eliminate fogging, when the user breaths.
The metal reinforced elasticated tabs combined with an adjustable head band allow for a comfort fit.
As a manufactured product the visor is designed to be as efficient as possible, being created from a single sheet of CNC cut PET plastic. The material is certified for use in the health industry and provides full protection from COVID-19 particulates.
What the money will be used for:
None of the money raised will be kept for personal gain. All proceeds raised will go towards the manufacture and distribution of PPE visors. Any left over funds will be donated to charity.
To make 1000 visors, £1700 will be needed to cover the purchase of raw materials, conversion into usable visors and distribution to those in need of protective full face visors.
Time frame:
With the supply chain all in place, all that is needed is to raise the minimal order quantity of raw material and within 1-2 weeks the finished visors will be en route to those that need them.
I do not need to write about how urgent this call to action is. As soon as we are able to raise the funds, the sooner we can get the manufacturing process started and get the visors to those who need them the most.
