Jack’s Journey
Donation protected
Jackson Charles Plowman was diagnosed with left sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) at his 22 week scan. Jack had fetal tracheal occlusion (FETO) surgery, which helps his lungs and pulmonary arteries grow while in utero. Jessika (Jack’s mom) spent 2.5 months on bedrest in the hospital during the two fetal surgeries.
Jack was delivered at 36 weeks and 6 days and on day 2 was placed on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He had two emergency surgeries for bleeding and was taken off ECMO on day 22. However, he was having oxygenation issues and on day 26 he was put back on ECMO. Second ECMO runs are rare and only about 5-6 are done yearly.
Currently they are awaiting infection consults to culture his lungs and see what is infecting his lungs.
With Jessika’s bed rest, she had to go back to work after 2 weeks of delivering Jack. She’s either working, at the hospital with Jack or with her 3 and 4-year-old boys.
Jack is almost a month old and he’s already been through so much. He’s so critical that Jessika hasn’t even been able to hold him. His journey has been a constant roller coaster. Jack and Jessika have a long journey ahead of them and would appreciate any help you can provide.
Please keep praying for this little guy’s life!
