Heart Transplant Medical Expenses

Hello, I am fundraising for my cousin and best friend since we were in diapers, Emilio Papiomitis, who had a heart transplant at NY Presbyterian Hospital over the weekend. Emilio, 53 years old, has a family, a wife and two great daughters. Emilio is also a survivor of childhood cancer. The radiation treatments that saved his life when he was 7 yrs old also caused lifelong medical issues, the most severe being damage to his heart muscles, resulting in congestive heart failure. Eight (8) weeks ago, Emilio checked in to NY Presbyterian for a stent procedure due to a 90% blockage of his artery. Emilio didn't know it then, but he was much sicker than anyone knew. His heart failure caused poor blood flow, which damaged his liver and other organs. After 6 weeks in the hospital his doctors finally cleared Emilio for the stent procedure, hoping the cleared artery would allow proper blood flow and alleviate some of his symptoms. Unfortunately, his heart was not strong enough to undergo the stent procedure. They could not maintain his blood pressure under anesthesia so they abandoned the stent and put Emilio on the nationwide heart transplant list. Amazingly they found a donor heart in 4 days and Emilio is now going on day 3 with his new heart. As you can imagine, after spending 8 weeks and counting in the hosiptal, his medical and living expenses are enromous. Any thing you can give to Emilio and his family would be greatly appreciated. The money raised will help pay some of those expenses and please share this if you can. Thank you.
