Good Child Development Center is pleased to fundraise to support Jessica Kornegay, a dedicated mom, Christian and community member who has been an incredible advocate for the education of young children and our organization.
Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Breast Cancer last month and, only 14 days later, was informed that it was upgraded to Stage 3. She will begin Chemotherapy on August 15th and will require a double mastectomy. To conclude treatment, she will need a full year of infusions and radiation. It’s a long and challenging process, but she has stayed optimistic with a smile on her face even through adversity.
Jessica has spent countless hours volunteering for Good Child's fundraisers, events, classroom parties and community outreach. Her son Mala'Khi is graduating our program after being a stand-out student for the past 5 years and, while we say goodbye to their family, it is our turn to give back to them in appreciation for their devotion.
This is not the first hardship Jessica has encountered. Her son Mala'Khi navigates neurodivergence. At 18 months, doctors informed her that he may never speak or socialize. Now, at 6 years old, thanks to his mom's unwavering willingness to fight for him, he is a kind, helpful, friendly and fully developed boy who tells stories and plays with friends. She also lost her beloved brother, godfather to Mala'Khi, at a young age.
Jessica is a fighter, and this battle against cancer is one she CAN and WILL win. We are counting on support from the community to help her with healthcare costs and supporting her son through recovery.
All funds will go directly to her family.
