Hi everyone

My name is Rosie. I am a Jack Russell and I’ve just turned one year old.
I was rescued 7 months ago by Peter & Jenny and my 2 new brothers Jack and Oliver. I also have a new doggy brother Benny who I love very much.

I am a very active and mischievous puppy. I like to eat everything and fight with Benny while being as loud as possible. Before I joined my new family I hadn’t really had much contact with many people and definitely not many dogs. I still get a bit overwhelmed sometimes on walks. Not keen on joggers or cyclists yet especially when they sneak up on me. I am getting better though and I love to bark at them as they pass. I have made a couple of good friends down the river, Billy, another Jack Russell and my Grandparents puppy Pepe who is even more mental than me.

But I need some help. Due to some unfortunate genetics and a disappointing insurance company I have a very sore hip and it will only get worse unless I have an operation.
Legg-Calve-Perthes (LEG-kahl-VAY-PER-tuz) disease is a childhood condition that occurs when blood supply to the ball part (femoral head) of the hip joint is temporarily interrupted and the bone begins to die.

I have four options of which number 3 is the preferred at the moment.

1. Full hip replacement (£9k+) and lots of physio
2. A femoral head and neck excision - removal of the ball of the femur and physio. (£3.5k) Will give me 70% mobility and be less painful until I’m older.
3. Amputation (£1,500-£2000). Full removal of pain and fewer future risks. I’m little and young and I think I’d be ok on three legs. I don’t use my leg at the minute just odd times for balance as it hurts too much.
4. Doggy Heaven - this IS NOT an option!! I have to much energy to use up and things to learn, like ringing the bell to go outside for the toilet. (It’s a major work in progress)

If anyone has any questions I have x-rays of my hips and details from the vets I’d be happy to share.

I am just looking for a little help raising some money towards my operation if anyone could possibly contribute.

As the pain is getting harder to bear with and only so much loxicom and calpol are helping, I would like to have this operation as early in 2026 as possible.
I realise it is Christmas time and money is tight for many but this would be the best Christmas ever to be pain free.
I also promise that any money raised that is not used for my recovery will be passed onto another charity to help others in similar situations

Many thanks in advance

Rosie
