Brave Sons in Need, Ages 12 & 18, a Family in Crisis

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to consider supporting a local student, TJ, and his 18-year-old brother, Eric, who are facing the impossible.

My name is Myra, and a local educator. I live two doors down from TJ and Eric who graduated high school in June. They are the sons of Sarah Jenkins, a single mother and sole provider.

Sarah suffered a massive stroke on November 16th and has since been in the ICU. Initially, the doctors did not think she would survive, and they even told her sons to say their goodbyes. But Sarah is a fighter—she has shown incredible strength and determination. While she still faces a very long and challenging road to recovery, she can now communicate by blinking to answer yes or no questions, which is a huge step forward.

Sarah is an only child, so she doesn’t have any living extended family members who can help. TJ's only extended family member, was his grandfather, who passed away this past July, leaving the boys without any family support. Eric, a teenager, is now shouldering the unimaginable responsibility of making medical decisions for his mother, caring for his younger brother TJ, and managing the household, including paying bills, rent, and buying food. He is carrying burdens that even many adults would struggle to bear.

The boys are in desperate need of financial assistance as they struggle to cover rent, utilities, and food. On top of everything else, the owner of the home they live in is selling the property, which has added even more uncertainty to their already overwhelming situation. I am in direct contact with homeowner trying to ensure rent is paid and just maybe delay the selling of the property. UPDATE: Landlord wants the boys to move out by the end of January 2025. The boys are very dear to me, and your generosity will provide them with one less thing to worry about as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
