The Duke Ellington School of the Arts Theatre Department will present their production of In the Red and Brown Water by Tarell Alvin McCraney on April 9th and 10th. The performances will take place in the Ellington Theatre at Garnet Patterson 2001 10th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
I AM MY SISTER'S KEEPER
Proceeds from our program ad placement will support our I AM MY SISTER’S KEEPER Campaign, which gives young women who could not otherwise afford the price of a ticket, the full VIP treatment during the run of the show. These young women will receive a ticket with premium seating, an invitation to our VIP reception, and a meet-and-greet with the cast. The organizations we will be extending this invitation to are Family Matters, Wednesday’s Child, and Child and Family Services. We will also offer tickets to students within the DC Metropolitan area who are in need of financial assistance.
IN THE RED AND BROWN WATER
In the Red and Brown Water is a coming-of-age story about a young woman who has to choose between following her dreams and taking care of her family. We hope that participants will identify with the challenges the main character faces and it will open up a dialogue between these young women and members of the cast. I AM MY SISTER”S KEEPER is an opportunity for young women to meet new friends, learn something new, develop self-confidence, and feel like the VIPs that they are!
