The phone rings at 5:24am. Early calls are never a good sign. “The barn burned down this morning- everything is gone” she says through the tears and heartache. Kacie Parrish is calling me, one of her horse boarders, to share a devastating reality that every farmer fears.
On the morning of April 26, an fire destroyed the P&P Legacy Farm barn and claimed the lives of the smallest creatures inside. Precious baby goats, baby rabbits, adult rabbits, chicks, and a beloved milking goat Princess Buttercup. Milking equipment, feed, hay, riding tack…. everything - gone.
You can imagine how daunting this is to face when you still have remaining horses, goats, chickens, guineas, dogs, and cats to feed and shelter.
Just 11 days before the fire, Tammy Parkhurst (Kacie's mother) and co-owner of the farm was in an ATV accident. Her arm and shoulder were badly broken and she was sent to UAMS, 3 hours from home, for advanced care. To date, Tammy is still at UAMS and has undergone 5 surgeries trying to repair her arm and shoulder. She is devasted to be missing the rest of the school year teaching her 6th graders at Lingle middle school. We are praying for full function to return to her shoulder, arm and hand but she has a long road ahead. Her husband (Marty) has been staying in hotels in Little Rock so that he can be with his wife throughout this journey
These families need our prayers, love, hope, and encouragement. They need us to SHOW UP big for them in a time of need. Would you consider blessing them with funds to help fill the gaps with feed & hay costs, farm supplies, fire clean up, and a rebuild? Every dollar makes an impact - no donation is too small. Gift cards to Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, & Walmart are also other options to give.
We are trusting that there will be beauty from ashes. (Isaiah 61:3)
