A Service Dog for Sophie

We are the parents of a delightful little girl named Sophie. Sophie has autism - a neurological disorder involving a spectrum of behaviors and characteristics causing communication, social, and sensory difficulties. Sophie has been accepted to receive a service dog from the Autism Service Dogs of America which would assist her when in school and at home and help keep her safe. It is difficult to access the community as a family, as she has no sense of danger and often darts into streets and parking lots. The dog will service as an emotional anchor calming her in public and in school. It will also help our family as we are reluctant to attend movies with her or even go to restaurants as these common family outings can be triggers for outbursts or meltdowns. Even a shopping trip to Walmart can become a fearful inducing experience. 

The donation level required for the dog is $13,500. The service dog agency, Autism Service Dogs of America is an Oregon based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our family kindly asks that you help us in raising funds to provide Sophie with an ASDA service dog specifically trained to assist children with autism.
