The Great Falls Balloon Festival is an annual, 3-day festival located in Lewiston/Auburn, Maine. The festival combines hot air balloon, food and entertainment to celebrate our community and raise money for dozens of local non-profits.
During the winter of 2014/2015, all of the copper power cords that are used to electrify the festival grounds at Simard-Payne Memorial Park were stolen from a storage trailer.
Police are investigating and the festival board is currently working to determine a replacement cost, but initial estimates are $40,000–$50,000.
The festival simply does not have the funds to replace this equipment. Our insurance policy includes liability, but does not cover this type of incident.
