Light for Hope in Zimbabwe
Donation protected
We created Light for Hope, a project created to bring solar panels to shelters for survivors of gender-based violence in Harare, Zimbabwe. We are working in partnership with MUSASA, an NGO that operates 14 shelters across the city. These shelters provide refuge, healing, and support to women and children escaping gender based violence and abuse—but many of them lack consistent access to electricity.
In Zimbabwe, 1 in 3 women aged 15-49 has experienced physical or sexual violence. For survivors, something as simple as a light at night, a warm meal, or the ability to charge a phone to call a loved one can help restore a sense of safety and dignity.
Our goal is to install solar panels in as many shelters as possible—bringing access to lighting, refrigeration, microwaves, televisions, and phone charging stations. These may seem like small comforts, but they make a big difference in the recovery journey. This isn’t just about electricity—it’s about restoring hope, independence, and humanity.
We need your help to make this possible. Every donation, no matter how much, brings us one step closer to lighting up these spaces and the lives within them. Let’s come together to power healing and hope.
