OUR CHALLENGE
Reliable electricity — something so many of us take for granted — isn't easy to come by in the Navajo Nation. Shockingly, 1 in 3 homes does not have access to electricity. This means that young people are reliant upon the daylight hours to do schoolwork, not to mention all of the things families need electricity to do.
Heart of America's Skip the Grid initiative delivers sustainable energy to student households across Indigenous communities in the United States. This means that families have power for schoolwork and more - all in a sustainable and reliable means.
DID YOU KNOW?
- 1 in 3 homes in the Navajo Nation doesn't have access to reliable electricity.
- Navajo Nation is home to around 173,000 Indigenous persons across 45,000 households.
- HOA has powered learning via 233 solar power installations in the Navajo Nation.
- HOA has delivered over 11,000+ education resource kits to kids in the Navajo Nation.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
All people should have access to basic needs, such as reliable electricity. Every child should be able to enjoy time at home by reading and doing their homework without worrying about light and power. We're asking you to help us provide battery packs and solar panels for more homes in this community.
Even if you can't give today, by sharing and liking our social media posts and emails helps us spread the word about this important work.
