My team at OMNI Group Real Estate believes that a vibrant and well-supported culture and arts scene is essential for a healthy and dynamic community. As such, we have pledged our support to many non-profit organizations and community projects over the years, and most recently, have signed on as sustaining sponsors of Santa Ana's The Frida Cinema, and their series of free outdoor screenings held on the rooftop of a Downtown Santa Ana parking lot just a few blocks east of our offices on Historic Calle Cuatro.
When we were told that, among the many expenses that our local non-profit indie cinema has to endure to put these outdoor events together, one of their regular rentals is a generator, we felt compelled to act. The Frida has already put on six outdoor films in Downtown Santa Ana, and they have many more in the works, as well as some exciting new locations they are eyeing to take their outdoor cinema series even further out into our community. Not having to worry about power needs every time will free up so much potential for the intrepid team at The Frida, and we'd love to see them take more spaces throughout our community and breathe new life into them by converting them into outdoor cinemas, if only for one fun night at a time.
I recognize and praise The Frida Cinema as an organization that continues to give so much to our community, and I ask you to join me in giving back by providing them with a vital piece of equipment that will allow them much more freedom, and in turn, our community with more opportunities for unique and enriching nights of cinema under the stars!
ABOUT THE GENERATOR
The Frida Cinema has to utilize a dual-dedicated-amp, whisper-quiet generator for their events. This is due to the fact that the blower that keeps their large outdoor screen inflated needs it own dedicated amp to keep going through the show; as such, the organization's A/V equipment (projector, media player, speakers) must be on their own dedicated amp. The whisper-quiet element, needless to say, is necessary so that the audience can hear the film without the distraction of a blaring generator motor.
As such, any old generator won't do for these outdoor screenings. For their events, The Frida Cinema rents a Honda EU 7000iS, priced at $3,999. We have committed ourselves therefore to help The Frida Cinema raise $5,000, so that they will also have enough to cover taxes, as well as other incidental fees (warranty, parts) that may come with purchasing their new generator.
ABOUT THE FRIDA CINEMA'S OUTDOOR EVENTS
The Frida Cinema started bringing outdoor films to Santa Ana in 2015, when they presented three Christmas-themed films in the Yost Theater parking lot in partnership with the Downtown Santa Ana Farmer's Market. In April 2017, they kicked off a new series - DTSA Rooftop Cinema - which presents family-friendly favorites on the rooftop of the parking lot at 5th & Spurgeon, free-of-charge. They have presented "Guardians of the Galaxy" (March), "Jurassic Park"(April), and "Ghostbusters" (May), with 2017's "Beauty and the Beast" (June 25) and "The Princess Bride" (July 30) still to come. Pending available funding, The Frida Cinema plans on bringing outdoor films to additional locations throughout Downtown Santa Ana. Again, having their own generator will decrease the burden placed on the organization to produce these events - please join us in making more nights of magic happen in Santa Ana!

The Frida Cinema is Orange County's only non-profit, independent art house cinema. A California 501(c)(3) organization, CA Tax EIN 27-0950151. Their mission is to Enrich, connect, and educate communities through the art of cinema.
All donations are tax-deductible. For donations of under $49.99, your credit card statement and/or receipt will satisfy as proof of charitable donation; donors of $50 and over will further receive an acknowledgement letter from The Frida Cinema.
